A new gathering for deaf, disabled and neurodivergent artists living in South West England
Tickets go on sale 3 June 2026. Free.
Spectroscope is proud to present Where We Land, a new one day gathering created specifically for deaf, disabled and neurodivergent artists living across South West England. Bringing together creatives from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Bath, Bristol, Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire, the event has been designed as a space to reconnect with artistic practice, meet peers and spark new ideas.
Developed in collaboration with a growing network of artists, the event is led by Yiska and Spectroscope founder Cathy Mager. Together, they have shaped a day that responds to what many creatives are experiencing: the pull away from making, and the need to return to it with renewed focus, curiosity and energy.
“Too often, artists are pulled into roles that sit alongside their work, advocating, advising, navigating systems. Part of this work is about resetting that balance, creating space for artists to return to their practice, and to be ambitious, playful and radical.”
Cathy Mager, Founder of Spectroscope
Where We Land will bring together artists at different stages of their careers for a programme of talks, conversations and workshops centred on experimentation, exchange and reflection. The day invites attendees to step away from pressure and reconnect with the heart of their work.
While the gathering is rooted in the South West, the programme will feature influential speakers and contributors from across the UK and beyond, bringing together perspectives from different disciplines, practices and lived experiences.
As part of this wider programme, Spectroscope will also announce a new pilot residency at East Quay in Watchet, Somerset. Taking place separately at a later date, the residency will support deaf, disabled and neurodivergent artists from the South West to develop ideas, experiment and take creative risks in a dedicated coastal setting.
For artists who are feeling stretched, stuck, isolated or ready for change, Where We Land offers an opportunity to reconnect with creative ambition, build new relationships and leave with renewed momentum for what comes next.
